1) Measure the open-time of the fuel injection valves: lets say that you know in idle, the fuel valves are open 3ms, and in full throttle, they are open 12ms. When you know count (during one tank), how long they were open (cummulated) in the "3ms" mode, and how long in the 12ms mode, you can calculate the fuel consumption in each mode and the
During our hard usage we got a fuel consumption of 6.52L/100Km (36.4 mp(US)g), that will provide a range of 338 Km. However, Mr. Tate managed a more respectable 6.24L/100Km while using the KTM for commuting, giving a range of 353 Km β¦
The run was 251km (50km paved, 50km off-road/2-track/etc, 150km gravel). My fuel light came on at 209km and I ran out of fuel at 250.5km. Yes, I was 500m from the fuel pumps - very embarrassing, as my buddy had TONNES of fuel left. For the past 5 years and 41000km, my fuel light will (on average) come on at: - 200-210km on the hwy averaging 120kph
I'm sure a good KTM mechanic that's up on the latest TSB will know how to set it up so it's more reasonable. The local mechanics here, unfortunately, aren't on that list. A related item is fuel consumption. One of the major gripes with the 950 was it's dismal fuel consumption (35 MPG isn't rare if you are having a good time).
As for the power figures, the 2003 KTM 950 Adventure had installed a 942cc four-stroke liquid-cooled two-cylinder engine underneath its fuel tank, delivering an output power of 102 hp at 8,000 rpm

The PROBLEM is being I don't think you can believe the in-built consumption figures. I recorded the best day at: 5.6l/100km = 50mpg (UK gallon) Worst day: 41.5mpg. Average over 7k miles was 6.2 = 45.5mpg. However, I routinely got 250 miles distance (GPS) out of a tank which is 54mpg - so I agree with Phill!! Or close enough.
βThe factory tested the suspension on European supermoto courses,β said Tom Moen, Media Relations Manager for KTM. βThe tracks there are a lot more high-speed and flowing, as well as having more pavement than ones in the U.S.β Chassis has shorter wheelbase and swingarm than 950 Adventure.
